Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Reel Chemistry LLC ("Reel Chemistry", "we", "us") operates the Reel Chemistry mobile application and website. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
2. Information you give us
- Account: email address, name, password (hashed), and — if you sign in with Google — your Google account identifier and public profile picture.
- Profile: age, gender, orientation, city and state, creative role(s), bio, prompt answers, photos, voice tag, connection intent, and any other content you choose to add.
- Communications: messages you send in matches, reports you file about other users, and support requests.
- Payments: if you subscribe, our payment processor Stripe collects and stores your card details. We only receive the subscription status, plan, and last four digits.
3. Information collected automatically
- Device: app version, operating system, device model, language, timezone, and crash logs.
- Usage: screens visited, features used, likes and passes, match activity, and session length.
- Approximate location: derived from your city/state entry; we do not collect precise GPS unless you explicitly enable it.
4. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide and secure the service — authenticate you, show you profiles that match your intent, and route messages between matches.
- Enforce our Community Guidelines and Terms — moderate content, review reports, and prevent fraud and abuse.
- Process payments and manage subscriptions via Stripe.
- Personalize your experience — surface relevant creative roles, AI icebreakers, and recommendations.
- Send transactional email — signup confirmations, waitlist positions, subscription receipts, and safety notices.
- Comply with our legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
5. Who we share information with
- Other users: your public profile (name, photos, city, role, bio, prompt answers) is visible to other members. Your email, phone number, and payment details are never visible.
- Service providers: Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Google (authentication and Play services), Amazon Web Services (hosting), and Google Cloud (AI features). Each is bound by contract to use your data only to provide us the service.
- Legal: we disclose information when required by valid legal process, to protect the safety of users, or to investigate suspected violations.
- Sale of business: if Reel Chemistry is acquired, your information may transfer to the acquirer subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertising networks.
6. AI features
When you use Reel AI or icebreaker generation, your messages and profile context are sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini via emergentintegrations) to generate a response. The provider does not use your data to train their models under our enterprise agreement, and prompts are not retained beyond the request.
7. How we protect your information
We encrypt data in transit with TLS, store passwords hashed with bcrypt, restrict access to production data to a small engineering team on the principle of least privilege, and log administrative access.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (see Section 10), we delete your profile, messages you sent, photos, likes, matches, and AI session history within 30 days. Reports you filed against other users are retained (anonymized) so moderators can act on them. Payment records may be retained for up to 7 years to comply with tax and accounting law.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Export a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for optional features.
To exercise any right, email privacy@reelchemistry.app. We respond within 30 days. If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
10. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Menu → Delete Account. Deletion is self-service, immediate, and cannot be undone. We also honor deletion requests emailed to privacy@reelchemistry.app.
11. Children
Reel Chemistry is strictly 18+. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we discover an account belongs to a minor, we delete it. Parents or guardians who believe their child has signed up should email trust@reelchemistry.app.
12. International transfers
Reel Chemistry is operated from the United States. If you access the service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EEA, UK, and Switzerland.
13. Changes to this policy
We will post any material change to this policy in the app and update the effective date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
