Terms of Service
1. Who we are
Reel Chemistry is an application-based community for people working in film, television, streaming, commercial, music-video, animation, and adjacent creative industries. "We", "our", and "Reel Chemistry" refer to Reel Chemistry LLC and its officers. "You" refers to any person who creates an account or accesses the service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction. Reel Chemistry is not intended for minors. If we discover an account belongs to a person under 18, we will delete it without notice or refund.
3. Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of your profile and for keeping your login credentials secret. You may not create more than one personal account, impersonate another person, or use the service on behalf of a business without written permission.
4. Community standards
Reel Chemistry is a professional-community first. You agree not to:
- harass, threaten, stalk, or dox any user, whether on the platform or elsewhere as a result of contact made here;
- send unsolicited sexual content, including images, in any private chat or crew chat;
- use hate speech, slurs, or content targeting a person's race, gender, orientation, religion, disability, or national origin;
- scam, phish, or use the service to promote pyramid schemes, casting fraud, or "pay to audition" arrangements;
- scrape, mirror, or resell any user data or content pulled from the service.
5. AI moderation — how it works
To keep the community safe, Reel Chemistry uses automated classifiers powered by third-party AI services (currently Gemini via Emergent Integrations) to review private text messages for hostile tone, threats, harassment, and sustained use of aggressive language (including excessive capitalisation). This monitoring runs silently in the background of every private chat and every crew chat.
Our AI only flags patterns of abuse. It does not read messages for marketing, ad targeting, or profile-building purposes. Human moderators only review a conversation after it has been flagged by the classifier or reported by a user. By using Reel Chemistry you consent to this automated review as a condition of participation.
6. Video sessions
Group video ("Crew Chat") sessions are held with a visible AI moderator present at all times. This moderator can see and hear the session and may end the call if participants engage in abusive behavior. Video sessions are not stored server-side once they end, except for a brief text log of moderation events (mute, remove, end call, etc.) which we retain for 90 days.
7. Paid features & subscriptions
Reel Chemistry offers optional paid tiers (Plus and Premium) and paid promotional slots (weekly Newsletter listings at a flat $50 per listing per week, non-prorated). All charges are processed by Stripe. Grandfathered pricing (Founding 500 and Second 500 Plus tiers) is preserved only while your subscription remains continuously active and is forfeited on cancellation, three (3) missed monthly payments, or downgrade to Free — subject to the upgrade/pause exceptions described in your Plus subscription confirmation.
Newsletter listings must accurately describe the event. Listing a paid or ticketed event as "free" to avoid the listing fee will trigger immediate review and, on confirmation, an account ban and forfeiture of any active subscription without refund.
8. Lapse-tier feature loss
If your subscription lapses (unpaid) for four (4) months, incoming direct messages are hidden from your inbox until you resubscribe. At six (6) months, your account is locked from all platform features except reactivation. Owners and moderators are exempt from these timers.
9. Referrals & crew tagging
Every account is issued a personal referral code. Referring 10 users who complete onboarding grants you one month of free service (monthly subscribers) or one month credited toward your next annual renewal. Users referred with your code are automatically tagged as "crew" — additional crew tags require mutual acceptance between both parties.
10. Content ownership
You retain full ownership of any content you upload (photos, voice tags, video tags, prompt answers, newsletter flyers, portfolio links). By uploading, you grant Reel Chemistry a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display that content within the service for the sole purpose of operating the platform. This license terminates when you delete the content or your account.
11. Data & privacy
We collect only what we need to run the service:
- Email, password hash, name, birth date (age only stored)
- Profile content you upload (photos, prompts, roles, industries, city)
- Activity you generate (likes, matches, messages, referrals)
- Payment metadata via Stripe (we never see or store your card number)
We do not sell your data. We share it only with (a) service providers we contract with (Stripe, our hosting provider, the AI moderation classifier), (b) law enforcement when required by a valid subpoena or court order, and (c) other users only in the specific ways your privacy settings allow. You may request a data export or complete deletion at any time by emailing privacy@reelchemistry.app. Deletion requests are honored within 30 days.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Menu → Delete Account. On deletion, your public profile is removed immediately and all associated data is purged within 30 days, except for records we are legally required to keep (e.g. financial records for 7 years).
13. Disclaimers
Reel Chemistry is provided "as is". We make no representations that you will find a match, a job, a collaborator, or a friend on the platform. Introductions made here are your responsibility to vet. Meet in public. Do not send money to people you have not met in person. We are not liable for damages arising from your interactions with other users on or off the platform.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the platform grows. Material changes will be announced in-app at least seven days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
